Fabio Di Giannantonio finishes ninth in the #ThaiGP but DNF for Alex Marquez

 In MotoGP, News

The Thai GP draws to a close with a big disappointment for Alex Marquez, for he was – for a while – among the protagonists of today’s MotoGP race held today at Chang International Circuit, until disaster struck.

The gamble of using a different rear tyre compared to the others seemed to pay off at first, but a crash with 13 laps left – at turn ten – put him out of contention while running third. No physical consequence, on a brighter note, for the #73, who is still recovering from the injury suffered in India, but it is clear that both fitness and feeling with the bike are coming back.

Fabio Di Giannantonio had a solid race and scored a few more important points for the championship standings – where he aims at the 9th final position. He is now 12th with 93 points, 24 less than his teammate Alex in 11th.

9th – FABIO DI GIANNANTONIO #49
“It was a hot and seemingly endless race. It was really hard, but it was important to make it to the finish line and put together a good performance. We had an excellent pace, so had we started closer to the front we could have battled for the top five/six. The feeling was really good so we’ll take a few days of relax and then we’ll be back on attack mode for the last three events.”

DNF – ALEX MARQUEZ #73
“It’s a shame because we were brave today and we deserved something more. I was feeling good and also felt like I was quicker than Binder in that part of the track where I crashed. I still have to understand what happened, but I need to thank the team for the great work. We have the speed and the consistency in terms of results is just a matter of time.”
