Ayumu Sasaki has taken victory in the Valencia GP and has ended his final season in Moto3 as runner-up. The Japanese rider has had to fight until the last corner of the race to take his first win of the year, as five riders have reached the last lap with chances of getting the victory. Sasaki, Alonso, Ortolà, Veijer and Öncü have tried to close the year with a win, but in the end, it has been the Japanese rider who has crossed the finish line in first position.

Valresa GASGAS Aspar rider David Alonso has closed his first World Championship season in the top 3 after finishing on the podium in the Valencia GP. The Colombian has been fighting with the front group throughout the race and has arrived to the last corner with options to achieve the victory. In the end, the Colombian has finished second, just 0.082 off the winner. With this result, Alonso closes his first year in Moto3 with four victories, making him the rider with the most wins alongside Masià, and eight podiums, numbers that place him as the second-best rookie in the history of the category. His teammate Ryusei Yamanaka says goodbye to the team after finishing tenth in the last race of the season. The Japanese rider has ridden in the second group and has had to fight with riders like Dani Holgado or David Muñoz. Yamanaka has scored 6 points and ends his time at Valresa GASGAS Aspar in 12+1 place in the overall standings.

2nd David Alonso (+0.082):
“What a race, and what a way to finish the season. My eighth podium of the year. It was so fast out there and I tried all I could to pass Ayumu on the last lap. I knew 2nd position would give me 3rd in the championship: I can now go to the FIM Awards and I have my suit ready! Thanks to all the awesome fans here today.”

10th Ryusei Yamanaka (+6.907):
“A difficult race in the beginning because I was fighting with other people and there was a gap to the top group. I had good pace and was very fast but it was not enough to catch them. So, a bit disappointed but happy to end the season and get to the flag for the Aspar team. Thanks for all.”
