Max Verstappen on top in Bahrain season opener

 In Formula 1

As he did twelve months earlier, Max Verstappen left the Bahrain International Circuit as the leader of the F1 World Championship after converting Pole Position to a dominant win in the opening round of the 2024 series.

After shining in testing, the #1 was a little under the radar in the opening free practice sessions which were headed by Daniel Ricciardo and Lewis Hamilton respectively. But, when it came to it the Dutchman was unbeatable once again.

Sergio Perez qualified on the third row but made it up to P2 at the flag, whilst Spain’s Carlos Sainz took third after a hard fought race saw him get the better of  team mate Charles Leclerc and George Russell.

Positions sixth through tenth were taken by Lando Norris, Lewis Hamilton, Oscar Piastri, Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll.
