World Supersport Race 2 Australia
Tom Booth-Amos stole the show in a incident filled Race 2 with an excellent first win in World Supersport at Australia for PTR Triumph Factory Racing.
In the first lap, there was an incident between Orelac Racing Verdnatura’s Jaume Masià and Renzi Corse’s Valentin Debise came together at Miller corner. WRP Racing’s Marcel Schrötter highsiding at the same corner on the same lap. Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing’s Stefano Manzi avoided the incidents and fought to the podium later in the race.
Tom Booth-Amos on his first win: “It’s a huge weight off my shoulders to finally get the win. I was obviously happy after a podium last year but as a racer you always want to win. It’s nice to finally get that here and repay my team for all the hard work they’ve done.
“I said yesterday that I wouldn’t have expected this weekend after the test because I was completely lost and struggling. The team turned it around and now we’ve really joined the championship fight. Obviously, it’s the best possible start. Now we just have to keep going with what we’ve started and, hopefully, finish the season like this.”
Manzi on his second place and weekend: “In the end it was a great weekend and a great start. Yesterday with the win and today with the second place. Today I was struggling more but in the end it was good to finish in P2. I was close to the first place but I did a small mistake in the shift back in the last lap but yeah it is what it is and I’m super happy about this.”
