Full Throttle LIVE: The Ultimate Superbike Show Review

 In World Superbikes

From the moment the lights dimmed in the New Theatre Royal Lincoln, Full Throttle LIVE: The Ultimate Superbike Show felt less like a traditional theatre production and more like controlled chaos unfolding in real time.

Built around adrenaline, precision and spectacle, the show wastes no time pulling the audience into the world of Superbikes while still leaning fully into its theatrical elements. The inclusion of every World Champion throughout the production, alongside WorldSBK Paddock Show Host Michael Hill reading excerpts from his book, Superbikes, the Stage & Me, to connect the championship to his own story, kept the room constantly engaged. It balanced the thrill of live performance with pacing that rarely allowed the energy to dip. There’s an unpredictability to the production that works entirely in its favour – the feeling that anything could happen at any moment.

What makes Full Throttle LIVE: The Ultimate Superbike Show stand out isn’t just the technical ability on display, but the atmosphere created around it. The interactivity and Hill’s ability to engage the audience are what truly make the show work, and the level of effort from everyone at Stephen Leslie Productions and the entire cast behind the scenes is evident throughout. The anticipation before each new segment became almost as impactful as the content itself, with the audience leaning into the way Hill tells each story and connects it with people on a genuine level.

The production moves with the rhythm of a race weekend: loud, relentless and occasionally chaotic in the best possible way. Rather than relying purely on spectacle, Hill maintains complete control over the room, understanding exactly when to push the pace and when to let a moment breathe. The comedy feels natural, the emotional moments land perfectly, and together they create a show that feels both entertaining and surprisingly personal.

Visually, the production thrives on momentum. Smooth transitions, brilliantly accentuated lighting, and a thoughtfully designed set give the entire show a charismatic quality that feels immersive rather than overproduced. Even the appearances of Max Penfold – a charming tap dancer and impressive vocalist – and an authentic special guest, British Superbike Champion Scott Redding, fit seamlessly into the experience. Some moments are best left unspoiled.

What ultimately makes Full Throttle LIVE: The Ultimate Superbike Show work is its understanding of both World Superbikes, motorcycle racing and theatre as experiences rather than simply performances. It’s designed to be felt just as much as it is watched. By the final moments, the audience wasn’t simply observing the show anymore – they were completely caught up in it, fully immersed in Hill’s portrayal of the series and the stories behind it, with an understanding of what the category means to the people within it.
