MotoGP 2015 season could see the end of Spanish riders’ dominance

2

I was surprised to hear my 4-year old nephew sing to the tune of the Spanish national anthem while watching a podium cermony last season. He memorized it already. It just shows how dominant Spanish riders were in the previous seasons, winning most of the races and getting their country’s anthem played most of the time. This season, though, it’s possible that we could see a balance between riders of different nationalities winning a grand prix and getting to the podium.

Last time in Qatar, there was no Spaniard who stepped on the podium. In Austin, it was a great day for the Brits. Danny Kent’s pace was unmatched by his rivals during qualifying and in the race his strategy and patient approach to the race secured him the victory and the top of the Moto3 points standings. Pain suffered from a heavy crash won’t stop Sam Lowes from taking his first Moto2 and Grand Prix win. Lowes’ problem is that he crashes too much but he stayed glued to the bike when it mattered most.

It’s exciting to see riders from different countries stepping up their game this season. Not only is this good for the sport, but it is also good for the fans of MotoGP around the world.
